Emotions are not customer complaints with a response-time policy.
Some experiences take months or years before we even understand what they did to us. The expectation that we should process pain neatly and return to being productive is its own kind of cruelty.
Not everything needs to offer healing or tell you to stop running. Sometimes, we are aware of the pattern and still trapped inside it. Awareness is important, but it is not a magic exit door. Humans discover the problem and still have to live through the solution.
People like to believe pain arrives carrying a lesson. That once you understand it, you can thank it, release it and continue with your life.
But some lessons do not feel like growth.
Some only teach you how quickly things can fall apart. How to notice the slightest change in someone’s voice. How to leave before you are left. How to keep moving because standing still gives everything you have been avoiding enough time to catch up.
They tell you to feel it, let it go and get back to your life.
As though grief can be contained within ten minutes. As though the body understands schedules. As though surviving something means it has finished happening inside you.
I run like a mad dog.
